Big winner of the FREE limited edition ’28 Kicks Later’ t-shirt was none other than Virginia Beach Hall of Famer and rabid AU supporter Parker Pinnell (@parkervb)! Giant thanks to all those who commented on the month’s final post and all those who visited the blog daily, shared the blog, commented on the blog and stopped me in my tracks to see what I was wearing. One sad news tidbit though is production of the shirts will be delayed a few days… had to switch up the design slightly to make it ever so perfect. Shirts will be available for general consumption in the online shop on Monday, March 7… limited to 50 pieces and available in two different colorways. Thanks again AU fam… holla!

AboveUnderground Daily Feature: 28 Kicks Later – Day 28

’28 Kicks Later’ is a daily blog feature presented by the Head Honcho of AboveUnderground Clothing Co. highlighting a different pair of kicks worn each day for the month of February in his collection. Pics are taken each day shown being worn, as well as a little background on the kicks… such as where they were bought, the brand and whatever other thoughts come up in attaining the pair. At the end of the month, AU will be printing a limited edition ’28 Kicks Later’ t-shirt which will be for sale in the shop. It will be a small run… limited to 50 pieces. Final pair of kicks for the month and what better way to end it than with a brand spanking new pair of Jordans! These kicks first came out in January 2010 and I was able to pick these up on eBay about a couple of months ago. You can’t really find these in stores too much now, except for maybe Flight Club or a store like that, but they are somewhat easy to locate online for purchase. The Air Jordan Spiz’ike is a tribute to director/actor Spike Lee and his contributions to the Jordan shoe legacy, specifically his role as Mars Blackmon in the Nike Air Jordan commercials first debuted in 1989. The Air Jordan Spiz’ike’s are also really unique in that they take pieces/elements from six different pairs of Air Jordan’s throughout the years: III (3), IV (4), V (5), VI (6), IX (9) and XX (20). The first pair of Spiz’ike’s were released in 2006 and many initially thought they would not be well received. But, per Spike Lee’s request, the first colorway was only made available along I-95 thus sparking the demand and increasing the hype for the kicks to the point where several colorways have been released and hopefully more are on the way.

There are a lot of different details and elements packed into these kicks and hopefully the pictures above and below capture most of them.
